HFL became a BCorp in 2023. We had been hugely focused on bettering our culture since 2021 and as part of this we spent a lot of time as a team considering and reviewing our People & Culture policies and procedures. 

We ultimately decided that as individuals and a leadership team we wanted to provide our employees with a best-in-class culture and benefits. We also wanted to ensure that we considered our impact on our wider community and further afield. We were doing a good amount in this space, however our approach was to ensure we became more purposeful in this regard.

In practice this meant we rolled out policies which supported our employees and this covers areas such as maternity/adoption/surrogacy leave and pay, sickness leave and pay, compassionate leave and pay, amongst other areas. In terms of our community, we support a number of charities and individuals, and this has ranged from supporting less privileged youngsters to have access to a football session with a ex-pro, and supporting our local Alzheimer's charity through numerous events. We have and continue to heavily support sporting endeavours for varying teams and individuals. 

Environmentally, we want to make an impact here too and this has seen HFL achieve net zero carbon emissions as well as supporting our employees in carrying out more locally focused initiatives, such as beach cleans and allowing time off for charity days where they can choose a charity close to their heart and spend time volunteering for them.

HFL wanted to become a BCorp because we felt their mission really aligned to how we, as a firm, wanted to focus our 'for good' initiatives, and it is a highly recognised status no matter what industry you are in. We wanted to recognise the importance we place on our people, our community and environment and the constant need to better our endeavours. We also felt that becoming a BCorp will ensure that regardless of any other strategic focus in the business we will always ensure that there is focus and attention on being a force for good, not just for profit.
